Program History

Our program was modeled after the Bay Area Green Business Program.  Their program developed out of collaboration between San Francisco Bay Area local governments and regional agencies, with participation and funding from the U.S. EPA and Cal EPA Department of Toxic Substances Control.  They also collaborated with the businesses community when designing the applications. Since our Sierra Nevada industries and communities differ in nature, the program was modified to meet our local needs and ordinances.   Similar to the Bay Area, our multijurisdictional approach, provides a consistency throughout this region.
